We always like to do the Christmas window decorations the first week in December and this year had it all planned out to do a lovely Christmas Tree dress using our mannequins and a lovely sparkly bodice! Then 2 weeks ago our plans had to change!! We noticed around the area many other Christmas windows around Torquay had beaten us to it, now there was no way we could go ahead and look like we had borrowed everyone elses’ idea so we had to come up with our own! We needed a theme, we had messages going backwards and forwards between us 3 girls all night, snow theme – done before, Frozen – no not exciting enough, Angels – hmmmm how do we make the wings??? You get the idea!

Then after a night of thinking about what Christmassy things we could use to make a dress the idea of  wrapping paper dress was born! The girls thought I was mad (well maybe a little!) but hey we are creative types it can’t be that hard!

What colour???? Do we go smart and elegant for the paper or do we go cheesy Christmas pictures, decisions decisions, well it would need to look Christmasy and Wedding’y but also not odd against the other dresses, oh and have loads of metres on the roll! So there it was in the local supermarket – gold snowflakes, 10 metres of it – perfect!!

So take one mannequin, lots of pins, a stapler and some sellotape and away we go! Folding, pleating, cutting and then a lovely gold bow to finish it off! We are so happy with the result, hope you like it too!

If we can do this with paper, imagine what we can do with fabric!!
