Well isn’t it ironic!…

Sorry, couldn’t help myself with the pun! Rain on your wedding day hey? Its something we all panic about and stress over on the 48 hours leading up to the big day, by constantly watching the news and opening our weather apps on our phones every hour and comparing with your guests to see if their one says any different. Don’t worry we have all been there, however I’m here to help you see the plus sides and pick out some positives about it!

We all know the British weather, especially here in Devon it is so unpredictable so we will never be able to guarantee warmth and sunshine, yes, even in August! You probably have a better chance in September or October, it always seems to be perfect when the little ones go back to school doesn’t it? If you want to be certain of a blast of sunshine then I would say don’t rule out marrying abroad!

So back to grey days or showers! Firstly your photographer will probably love it! Talking to many photographers over the years at wedding fairs they love a grey day, its much better for taking photos and the light/brightness is much better for them to play with! Your guest won’t be squinting in the pictures and you can also get some awesome pictures with some props! For example we always recommend to be prepared with an umbrella, you can get some lovely bridal ones either in our boutique or on this website! I love the clear dome shaped one we have available, its clear so your photographer can take images through the brolly! Fun and romantic!

Make the most of our 3 for 2 offer on umbrellas at the moment!

Now we all know that the idea of going festivals and outdoor events has become more and more popular, over recent years so brides and grooms are now coming up with some amazing wedding ideas and having their weddings themed like a festival and choosing outdoor venues! We love it! It’s fun and something different! On that note we all know we wouldn’t go to a festival without our wellies so why not take advantage of kicking the heels off and getting some coloured wellies, imagine all the wedding party lined up for the pictures with there wellies on, either in the wedding colour theme or all different! Let your inner country bumpkin out, dance in the fields with a hog-roast and plenty of fairy lights every where!

The weather is something that tends to get us British talking, lets face it’s defiantly an icebreaker!  Small talk between guests who don’t know each other can liven the conversation up.

Rain on your wedding day will also keep all your guests together all in one place under one roof. If you had planned to be outside at your venue don’t worry your Plan B of going inside is other couples Plan A so it will still be perfect! Lets not forget the good luck omen of it raining either. “They” say (although I’m not sure who “they”are?) that if it rains on your wedding day its meant to bring you luck to the marriage. It symbolises new beginnings, a long lasting marriage and washes away any tough times you may have had.

And this one is just for fun… I once worked with a guy, who whenever he used to go out clubbing, said “Rain before 7, clear by 11” Now I kid you not, this worked every time!

Well Ladies I hope you have stopped worrying and you can sit back and enjoy the build up to your wedding day!

Back soon, Abbie xx
